Brown and Scott Sign With TU Women's Basketball Team

Tulsa signs four in early signing period

Nov. 15, 2007

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Antoinette Brown and Chanice Scott signed a National Letter-of-Intent with the Tulsa women's basketball team, as announced today by Head Charlene Thomas-Swinson.

Brown, a 6'0" guard from Schoolcraft Junior College in Detroit, Michigan, was a major contributor to last year's 25-5 team that won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference Championship. Brown averaged 11.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and earned Honorable Mention All-MCCAA honors as a freshman at SJC.

"Antoinette is a great young lady," said SJC Head Coach Karen Lafata. "She is an all-around player who has great speed, is a good leader and hard worker, and she will be a tremendous asset to TU."

Brown played her high school career at Detroit Northwestern High School, and earned all-city second team, all-state honorable mention and team MVP accolades as a senior. She also lettered in track and volleyball, placing second in Detroit in the long jump and fifth in the state in the 400-meter relay.

Scott, a 5'10" guard from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Texas, averaged 11.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 1.4 assists per game as a junior. She has tallied all-district honors in both basketball and volleyball for three years, and advanced to the regional competition in track in hurdles.

"Chanice is a total-package player who excels both on and off the court," Head Coach Milyse Lamkin said. "She is hardworking and respectful, and she brings a lot of heart and determination into each game."
